Gone Country's tribute to the music of Alan Jackson isn't just about Alan, it's about his band as well. Alan's magical musical melodies are a big part of it but, Alan goes a lot further by highlighting the talents of his band with tons of solos weaved in and out of his lifes stories that he so graciously decided to share with us in his lyrics. Gone Country was created to highlight those players as well. Legendary pickers like Brent Mason, Danny Groah, Bernard Purdie, and Jerry Douglas keeping the traditional sound of country music alive as new wave country seems to be taking root in Nashville.
Gone Country was built from a vision David Simpson (Bottom Photo) had as tribute bands started taking off in the Texas music scene. With Scott Jones (Left Photo) belting out the vocals and David's finely tuned chicken picken on the guitar it was a match made in heaven. Other players in the band consist of Carol Jones providing the harmonies through the backup vocals, Jeff Wallace providing the deep tones from the Bass. On percussion we sometimes use Ben Wade, Andrew Raley, and Sean Dawson, depending on which one is available . Kevin Freeman and Rick Dinker provide the sawing on fiddle when available as David Alexander provideds the traditional country twang on lap steel / dobro guitars. Tray Pope bangs on the sweet sounds from the ivory keys of the piano to round out the band.
Gone Country brings you as close to an Alan Jackson show possible. Fans have left shows stating if you closed your eyes you could think you were actually listening to the real thing. Gone Country is based in Dallas TX but are willing and able to go outside the Texas border and beyond. Checkout the website, gonecountrytx.com, for future info on where we will be next. While your there checkout the gallery and pickup your Gone Country Tees, Hats, and ChattaKoozies. Also visit us on Facebook Twitter, and Instagram @ gonecountrytx. Keeping Alans music alive as his health has taken a toll on his live performances is our goal.
